Cody Schimelpfenig

Senior Consultant

Did you know that we can see Leonardo Da Vinci’s fingerprints in many of his works of art? He used his fingertips to shade, soften, and mold his creations.  Cody will tell you that if you look closely at his life you will find the fingerprints of artisans of justice.  Mentors and compatriots from the urban neighborhoods of the U.S., the backroad communities of rural Mississippi, and in the dusty colonial streets of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

Cody has been engaged for the last twenty years in urban community development, affordable housing, philanthropy/fundraising, and cultural competency development . Earlier, he discovered his love of communicating potent and practical ideas when teaching biology, chemistry, and physics in an alternative high school and the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention system.

"I really appreciate the IDI as a tool because it is grounded in a developmental approach.  It gives us the ability to assess how and where to begin the conversation, so we can artfully nurture, and challenge, and develop strategy.”

He received a degree in biology from Gustavus Adolphus College, has a Masters in Theology, and is certified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI).

Cody and Erica and their three kids live in north Minneapolis.
